Thank you Steve!
Back in August Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple. It felt like the end of an era. Today I woke up to the news that Steve had passed away.
I owe a lot to Steve Jobs, we all do. Steve didn’t just run a technology company: he changed entire industries. He invented entirely new ones even, such as the multi-billion dollar apps market. His devices made technology usable. Steve didn’t predict the future, he built it.
I wouldn’t have founded Egeniq with Bas and Peter last year if Apple hadn’t revolutionized the way we use mobile devices.
Even on a personal level Steve Jobs has been an inspiration and influence to many of us. Thijs quoted Steve’s Stanford speech when he joined us. When I doubted whether it would be appropriate to write this post, Felix commented: “I’d say it’s appropriate for exactly those reasons, we would probably all be doing something else if it wasn’t for what he created”. Allen is moving from Malaysia to Amsterdam today and will probably always remember this day for two reasons. Today we will all think of the role Steve Jobs has played in our professional and personal lives.
Next week, we celebrate that we opened our doors exactly one year ago. We’ll make sure to celebrate Steve’s life as well.
Thank you Steve.

I see that you completed 1 year already. Congratulations & all the best for your company. Thanks!
