A new site, a new job opening

A lot has happened in the past 2 months. We’ve welcomed Felix and Thijs to the team and we’ve done work for a few very interesting customers. Only nine months after starting our business, we couldn’t have dreamed it would be this successful this fast.

One of the things we neglected while we were busy working on projects was our website. For months it only displayed the first 2 projects we ever worked on, and we’ve been using a standard wordpress theme for way too long. So we asked Jimmy Goedhart to design a site that matches who we are, and the result is right in front of you. Be sure to not only visit this post, but to look around as well. Have a look at our customers list or meet our team. And keep an eye on our blog, it’s much more easy to navigate now, and we’ll be posting more content in the near future.

But a new website is not all we have to announce today. We’re also looking for a software engineer again. Our previous Star Wars tinted job ad got us some really nice feedback. This time we’re looking for an experienced iOS developer for a couple of projects we’ve got lined up.

We’re looking for someone we can learn from

We are looking for an experienced mobile developer, preferably already quite familiar with the iOS platform. Although the market tells us that Android is the bigger platform, we see much more demand for iOS development at the moment. We have an opinion on why that is the case, but that is food for another post some day.

More important than your ability to write code, is your ability to teach your skills to the rest of your team. If your development experience is similar to ours, then you know that there’s a wealth of knowledge that is not covered in documentation, but that’s spread across the internet and in the minds of developers that have worked with certain APIs. We value this knowledge and it is of importance that we share our experience within the team. That’s how we all learn and improve on a daily basis. We listen to each other, we help each other and we help each other grow into even better developers all the time.

This is how 1 + 1 equals 3; the knowledge is not in the minds of every individual developer, it’s in the dynamics of the team, in our combined experiences and in the way we work together on projects. And that’s exactly why it’s important that we can learn from you; it’s as important as you learning from us.

What We Do

In a nutshell, we do the following things:

At the heart of these activities is technology. We don’t do graphical design, we don’t do marketing; we focus on what makes things tick. Here’s a teaser video created during one of our latest projects, where we did amazing things with a Kinect sensor.

We operate out of Utrecht (25 minutes from #appsterdam!), but our customers and staff could be located anywhere in the Netherlands or outside of it, and we allow work from anywhere. You can read more about how we work at our working at Egeniq page.
